The Dodge Durango is an impressive three-row crossover SUV with more muscle than any other vehicle in its class. For the 2021 model year, Dodge refreshed the exterior look with some new headlights, an updated rear spoiler, and a redesigned grille. Inside, the dashboard has a new layout, and there's a new 10.1-inch touch screen display available for some trims along with the latest version of the Uconnect infotainment system.

Trim Levels (Exterior)

The entry-level Durango SXT comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, and LED fog lights. The GT adds 20-inch alloy wheels and more aggressive styling elements, while the R/T has a sport-tuned suspension and heated side exterior mirrors. The upscale Citadel has chrome exterior trim and a power sunroof, and a step up to the SRT 392 or the SRT Hellcat gets you Brembo brakes and an adaptive suspension.

Engine (Power)

Power for the 2021 Durango comes from a 3.6-liter V-6 gas engine that puts out 293 horsepower. The GT and Citadel have this same engine, but add a dual exhaust system, bumping power up to 295 horsepower. A 5.7-liter V-8 under the hood of the R/T puts out 360 horsepower, and the SRT 392 comes with a 6.4-liter V-8 that makes 475 horsepower. If you choose the Hellcat, it has a 6.2-liter V-8 with 710 horsepower.

Performance

The Durango's base engine is more powerful than most SUVs in this class, and the horsepower just goes up from there. Drivers looking for a sportier ride should choose the R/T or SRT with their performance steering systems and performance suspension. Any of the models have superior towing power. When equipped with the V-6 and the tow package, the Durango can pull up to 6,200 pounds, while the stronger V-8 can handle up to 8,700 pounds.

Interior

There's room for five people with two-row models, or up to seven if you have the third row. Standard features in the base SXT include a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a height-adjustable driver's seat. The R/T adds a heated steering wheel, heated front and second-row seats, leather and simulated leather upholstery, and memory settings for the driver. The upscale Citadel trim adds ventilated front seats, upgraded leather upholstery, and it adds heated captain's chairs in the second row. Technology features start with an 8.4-inch touch screen, the Uconnect 4C infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, three 12-volt power outlets, four USB ports, Bluetooth, and satellite radio. The new 10.1-inch touch screen comes in the R/T along with Uconnect 5, and this trim also adds wireless charging, Amazon Alexa, and an upgraded stereo.

Safety Features

Every Durango comes with a rearview camera. Moving up to the R/T gets you front parking sensors and added driver-assist safety features such as automatic high beam headlights. The GT offers the option for a blind spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert, and you can also get the Technology Group with adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic braking, and lane-departure warning. The Citadel makes all of these optional driver aids standard.
