The unique Jeep Gladiator takes the function of a pickup truck and combines it with the style and capability of a Wrangler. The Gladiator's cabin is almost identical to the Wrangler, and you get a choice of two different soft tops and a hardtop. For the 2021 model year, a diesel V-6 engine is now available, and Jeep expanded the availability of the full-time four-wheel drive system to all trim levels.

Trim Levels (Exterior)

The entry-level Gladiator Sport comes with 17-inch steel wheels, fog lights, and manually adjustable side mirrors. It also comes with a folding soft top and removable doors. Step up to the Overland for 18-inch wheels, tinted rear glass, automatic headlights, side steps, and heated exterior mirrors. The Mojave adds Dana 44 axles, upgraded shocks, high-clearance fender flares, and this model also comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, 33-inch Falken all-terrain tires, and an electronic locking rear differential. The Rubicon is even more off-road ready with off-road shocks, 33-inch all-terrain tires, rock rails, and skid plates. The Rubicon also gets a vented hood, black headlight surrounds, and black grille inserts. Some optional exterior add ons that Jeep offers for any trim include a spray-in bed liner, a hardtop with removable roof panels, and an upgraded soft top. LED headlights are also available as an option.

Engine (Power)

The base engine for the 2021 Gladiator is a 3.6-liter V-6 gas engine that puts out 285 horsepower. It works with a six-speed manual transmission with the option for an 8-speed automatic. The new 3.0-liter V-6 diesel engine delivers 260 horsepower and uses the 8-speed automatic.

Performance

Either of the powertrains provides the Gladiator with plenty of power, and its extra ground clearance compared to the regular Wrangler improves its ride and handling. Jeep designed this truck to handle all types of terrain, and it delivers whether you are on the road or off it. It even has the ability to ford 30 inches of water and conquer uneven terrain. When equipped, it can tow up to 7,650 pounds.

Interior

The Gladiator has room for five people. Cloth upholstery comes standard along with manually adjustable front seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Sport also has a washable interior with drain plugs in the floor. The Overland adds dual-zone automatic climate control and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, while leather upholstery is an available option. Technology features in the Gladiator start with a 5-inch display screen, with a 7-inch touch screen display, two USB ports, satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto in the Overland. Jeep offers upgrades and options depending on the trim, so you can get a larger 8.4-inch touch screen and an upgraded Alpine stereo system.

Safety Features

Every Gladiator comes with a rearview camera, and Jeep offers more advanced safety features as part of available packages. Some of the features you can add to the Gladiator include rear parking sensors, a blind-spot monitor, a forward-facing camera, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beam headlights. You can also get a rear cross-traffic alert system and automatic emergency braking.
