The Ram 1500 stands out in a crowded full-size pickup truck market with its refined ride, standard features, and fuel economy. For the 2021 model year, you'll find a new Limited Longhorn 10th Anniversary Edition in the lineup, and Ram added an optional head-up display and digital rearview mirror to select trims. Ram also added the new TRX model with the Hellcat engine.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level Ram 1500 Tradesman comes with 18-inch steel wheels, automatic headlights, heated and power-adjustable mirrors, and rear privacy glass. The Big Horn adds 18-inch alloy wheels, while the Rebel adds off-road extras such as all-terrain tires, skid plates, and tow hooks. Step up to the Laramie for LED headlights or the Limited to make the air suspension standard, and you also get power-deployable running boards. Depending on the trim, Ram offers a dual-pane panoramic sunroof as an option, and you can also get a 33-gallon fuel tank. Also, the new TRX has 18-inch wheels, 35-inch all-terrain tires, and a full-size spare tire.
Engine (Power)
Ram offers the 1500 with several engines. The base is a 3.6-liter V-6 that puts out 305 horsepower. An optional 5.7-liter V-8 generates 395 horsepower, or you can get a 3.0-liter diesel turbo engine that makes 260 horsepower. The TRX gets its power from a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 that delivers 702 horsepower.
Performance
No matter which engine you have, it uses Ram's eight-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is also standard, with four-wheel drive available. The optional air suspension makes the Ram 1500 one of the smoothest riding trucks you can get, and it feels stable and composed over any road. When equipped with the tow package, it can tow up to 12,750 pounds.
Interior
Depending on the cab, you can fit up to six people in the Ram 1500. It comes standard with air conditioning, a front bench seat, and vinyl upholstery, with cloth available for the Tradesman and standard in the Big Horn. The Laramie adds leather upholstery and comes with driver's seat memory settings, upgraded materials in the cabin, and heated and ventilated front seats. Technology features in the Ram 1500 start with a 5-inch touch screen and a six-speaker stereo, and if you bump up to the Big Horn, it adds the option for an 8.4-inch touch screen or a 12-inch touch screen, and it has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Laramie makes the 8.4-inch touch screen standard, and the Limited makes the 12-inch touch screen standard.
Safety Features
Every Ram 1500 comes with a rearview camera, stability control, trailer sway control, and advanced multi-stage air bags. The Limited adds a blind spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert, and these are optional for all the lower trims except the Tradesman. The higher trims offer the option for advanced driver aids such as forward collision warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking. A head-up display is one of the optional safety features that Ram makes available, and you can also get a digital rearview mirror and reverse steering control.
